Looking for clarification

I need to move a datafile from one disk to another. I am runningOracle 9.2.0.4 on HP-UX11. I have done it before one a test systemwhere I could control the access. We run SAP and in the test systemI could make sure there were no users BUT SAP was still up. Thedatafile move went uneventful. Now I need to do it to a production. What exactly happens if someoneor something tries to access a table that is OFFLINE? This datafilemove shouldn't take too long BUT I can't get 100% of the users out ofSAP. Will thier transaction just fail? Hang? Get moved to therollback/undo/whatever and wait for the table?
