Yast using mounted ISO images
06/11/2018 9:30
Trying to install some extra packages from the 9.2 cd distro.

I want yast to accept iso images rather than having to put the physical cd's in the cdrom player. (actually a dvdrecorder) I umounted /dev/dvdrecorder and mounted the appropriate image: mount -t iso9660 /tmp/iso/suse92.cd1.iso /media/dvdrecorder -o loop I can access the 'device' as expected, yet yast keeps asking for cd1 to be put in.

Does yast make its own connections to a device, or did I miss something else ? And, of course, can I convince yast to accept the iso instead ? Thx Schraalhans.

06/11/2018 9:30 - *I may have made a mistake in some of what I said in a previous post on this subject. I was looking at YaST -> Software -> Change Source, and it indicates that CD's can be placed in a dirctory. The way I read it would be /data/CD1, /data/CD2, /data/CD*. As I said in the last post the indexing file names are prefixed with CD1, CD2 etc. I'm not sure if this could be done in previous versions when I was trying to do this.

Good luck. Bob

06/11/2018 9:30 - Well, what I do is to mount the dvd and the cp -r /mnt/dvd to /suseThen add an installation source (local directory) in Yast; make it the 1stin the list, and then all installs work from that source. Been doing itfor ages - working on this machine as I type. Means I don't have toremember to have the cd/dvd with me. An iso can be mounted, so this willalso work for an iso image. Persevere.

06/11/2018 9:30 - BTW, I tried changing/adding an install path, but yast keeps complaining no product information available at given location. Tried adding the iso itself as well as the contents, no luck.

I even tried copying all files of all 5 cds to a windows share and added it as a samba product source, which Aborted yast without error msg.
