Connect to a physical standby database
16/04/2018 11:47
Hi, I am using Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1) on WindowsXP. I created the primarydatabase and using Dataguard, I created a physical standby database ona different machine. The configuration is working good and no problems.

Next i tried to verify the switchover operation using the dataguardmanager GUI.

During the switchover process an error occured (Exception Cobrasomething). After this my management server service is not starting andwhen I try to connect to the primary database the error Ora-0103: Oracle Initialization or shutdown in progress pops up.

I restarted the machine and tried everything but I am not able toconnect to my original primary database. Can anyone guide me to theright path.

I think during the switchover process, dataguard changed my primarydatabase to standby database configuration and now I am stuck with twostandby databases. I tried many things and every time I got errors. Onenotable error that I got while I was reconfiguring the managment serveris Control file is for standby.

This is the second time this thing is happening to me. In the firstsituation I deinstalled the whole product and reinstalled andreconfigured it.

Can anyone please tell me how to startup or shudown the databasewithout connecting through the sqlplus window? Can anyone tell me how to revert my primary database from the standbyroll? Any comment will be appreciated.

Thanks and Regard.

Babar

16/04/2018 11:47 - Upgrade to 9.2.0.7.0.

Dataguard 9.2.0.1.0 was full of bugs. I encountered such problems as yourswith this version.

Try out the guidelines from http://tinyurl.com/mxsqz (3.2.1.4Troubleshooting Switchover Operations) And maybe just give up using the Dataguard 9i GUI: dgmgrl is much morereliable and lightweight.
