I am running Mandriva 2007.1 on a laptop. Evertime the lid is shut andopened, kdesktop_lock --force is running which forces me to enter mypassword. I DO NOT want this. HOw do I stop it from doing this to me?(Mandriva's nannying really gets annoying at times).
( I can still go to a console so that is how I determined what wasrunning.)

I have been working as a programmer using C++ only for quite some timenow, I never felt the need to do any development under Java, but thathas now change; as we all know Java is not longer a programminglanguage that can be ignored. Thus I have decided to port or convert myC++ library to Java, but I have run in to a little bit of a problemwith the concept of package: Say for instance, if I have a class foo.java in a subdirectory named[.../dev/java/packages/package_one ] the file would look like t.... read more

Again...I'm rusty, and have no documentation around...probably a stupidquestion.
I'm trying to join on a field that has some null values using (+), but, oracle doesn't seem to recognize this anymore. I'm on Oracle 9.2.0.6.
I've been looking up, an seeing that there is a new way to do an outterjoin, but, most examples I see only are using 2 tables and a couple offields, I can't figure how to use this on a large multi-table joinwhere lots of fields are being selected. Can .... read more

Hi, hopefully someone can help please.
We are having a number of account locked messages for random users. This is occuring on NT 4.0 server, and there doesn't seem to be any common factors. Some of the users that encounter the problem, have left themselves logged off, and we've noticed that the accounts still lock.
Has anyone seen this before, and if so, please can you advise.
Thanks in advance!RegardsKevin

Hello,I am planning on putting a few tutorials online, specifically about how toinstall and configure certain applications on a Gentoo Linux system.
I just threw together this NTP tutorial today, and would really appreciateany comments, suggestions, and corrections to this document.
You can find the tutorial here: http://drtebi.com/docs/Installing_NTP.pxml I am a little uncertain about the very last part, if it is correct toadd ntp-client _and_ ntpd to your default runtime if using ndpd.

Hi NG,Oracle decided to desupport Oracle Names in 10g. Willing or not, we're required to move to LDAP.
We're running here 100s of oracle instances named by the following scheme: INSTANCE.LOCATION.COMPANY.COUNTRY (e.g. db1.mch.oracle.de).
My problem moving to ldap comes with the domain names, of which we have dozens. I'd like to know, how the ldap tree looks like, exspecially how about the dc=OracleContext (required only on top-of-tree or in each domain?).
Could anyone provide a (ano.... read more

Hi, I got a message today: Someone of the ARMada installed a new french mailing list. It was exactly in the time I was on the edge / computer to do exactly the same.
It was not the first time that something like this happened. In the morning of the 27th February 2009 I did a speech about the power of tildes.

And what does the buffersize and prebuffer in xmms's options? What should I do to get my music sound normal? I hope someone could help me.

This might interest some. A beta of StarOffice 9 was made available on 17th July and runs for a month.
The FAQ fails to answer one obvious question - does the software stop running at the end of the beta or not. It tells you the beta period ends after a month, but that is not the same as saying whether the software stops working or not. (Yes, I do know how to use the 'date' command, but one would think they would put such information there.) Anyway, for those interested, see: http:/.... read more

Greetings, We are using Oracle 9i. Are regexp functions available in Oracle 9i, or was that introduced with 10? Given the following two strings: str_a='5838 MISSION CENTER RD #C'str_b='5838 MISSION CENTER RD C' orstr_a='7576 PARKWAY DR APT #2A'str_b='7576 PARKWAY DR APT 2A' is it possible to write an expression in Oracle 9i that will return true if the only difference between the two strings is the presence of the '#' symbol?
