Hi I'm building a small client/server program and need a way for theserver to determine it's IP address if it is connected behind arouter/NAT.
I've searched online and people recommend parsing the HTML fromwww.whatismyip.com to determine the IP. This seems to work, but isthere a more elegant way? I don't like the idea of depending on anexternal website for my IP.
Thanks,Kevin

I previously posted to comp.os.linux.hardware, but got no responses.
I have observed in various photography magazines a doodad for colorcalibrating you monitor (if you look closely, you'll see that they vary, and it would be nice to have it properly calibrated for editing images, sothat what you see really is what you get when you print). These consist ofa sensor which attaches to the screen (suction cup, I guess) and MSsoftware to calibrate the monitor. I'm assuming that software to go .... read more

A recent post mentioned how Zap leaves System variables set and I think there are other apps doing this.
It doesnt seem a correct thing to do, I think when you terminate a program it should remove its system variables.
I am knowledgable about system variables now, but I can remember a time when it was a frustration I had to put up with.
If someone must use Zap not StrongED to view a text file upon clicking, the program can be started at boot time anyway.
I can remember on slower machines it wa.... read more
